Jenny Davies-Schley
Jenny is one of those people who actually believes in Margaret Mead's famous quote: "Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." In this spirit, she has worked for many nonprofit organizations, political campaigns and a previous consulting firm. Having held titles like public education program manager, statewide organizer, field director, political director, coalition chair and consultant, she knows her communications stuff!
Co-founder of Progressive Promotions, Jenny's proven talents include media relations, community outreach, persuasive writing, strategic planning and fundraising, having:
- Secured statewide print, radio and TV coverage for clients like Coloradans for Financial Reform, Colorado Consumer Health Initiative, Americans United for Change and the Global Campaign for Education.
- Trained staff and activists at the White House Project, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1001, SEIU Local 105, Colorado Trust's Health People 2010 Project and others in media and public relations.
- Created comprehensive communication audits and plans for many groups, including Colorado Consumer Health Initiative, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains and Colorado Center of Law and Policy.
- Wrote and designed hard-hitting marketing collaterals and website content for groups like Campaign for a Healthy Denver, Great Education Colorado, Bell Policy Center and Equal Rights Colorado.
- Produced effective fundraising direct mail pieces for organizations like Project PAVE and Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains.
- Conducted market research for the Women's Health Foundation in Chicago, developing sophisticated messaging for marketing and media relations.
- Facilitated strategic planning for groups like Project VOYCE, Amigos de Academia Sandoval and Rick's Center for Gifted Children.
- Directed campaign, lobbying and public education efforts for NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado for seven years.
- Honed communications skills while working on a Graduate PR Certificate, studied systems change and learning theory while earning a M.Ed and developed excellent writing skills a B.A. English student, all at University of Colorado.
Jenny and her husband Charlie, a DPS bilingual school psychologist, are parents to two rock & roll children: 14 year-old John (guitar and bass) and 11 year-old Sarah (keyboards). They live in northwest Denver where they are usually engaged in community rabble rousing of some sort, including Northwest Neighborhood Middle Schools NOW.
